Meet Robin Kaleta
Born in the Beskydy Mountains in the Czech Republic, Robin Kaleta discovered his passion for the outdoors from an early age. It’s no surprise that he went on to become a professional freerider, carving down ungroomed mountains and skiing off the beaten path. When he’s not traveling around the world in search of fresh powder, Kaleta organizes freeride camps for all ages across Europe.
The project
DJI Telink, the Czech Republic’s authorised retail store and enterprise distributor of DJI drones, approached me with the concept of a documentary series that would feature some of the best Czech athletes and creators who use DJI technology. Each documentary had to include an in-depth interview, high-quality action shots, and most importantly, the unique story of a professional thrill-seeker. The short episodes would be published on DJI Telink’s website and Youtube channel with the goal of providing exciting content for younger, adventure-minded audiences.
Creating a successful documentary series in the rugged outdoors
Prior to filming the series, I collaborated with DJI Telink to take their idea from paper and bring it to life. We identified potential stories for each episode and established the best audience for the exciting series, which would be titled DJI Telink Creator. For the fourth episode with Robin Kaleta, I spent 3 days in the Austrian Alps to document Kaleta’s freeriding and record a fireside chat about his journey. We navigated the harsh winds, difficult terrain, and pounding snow to tell Kaleta’s story. Since the first episode, DJI Telink Creator has reached thousands of viewers and drawn attention to the exciting adventures that DJI drones can capture.
